The Leaf of Longevity. Tea has been recognized as a health tonic for over 4,000 years. As legend holds, the emperor of China of around 2,000 BC, who always boiled his water prior to drinking, discovered the joy/benefits of tea after some Camellia sinensis leaves accidentally dropped into his pot.

Since this first discovery, people have been enriching their lives and cultivating a connection with tea. Is it a coincidence that the longest lived people in the world, the Okinawans, drink tea several times a day? Modern research continues to affirm that tea has many real health benefits.

Tea has three main components: aroma, caffeine, and polyphenols. These polyphenols or flavonoids, that are present in tea in large amounts, are antioxidants that actively protect health by a microcellular-cleansing process.

The good news is that Tradewinds has superior levels of antioxidants in our tea because of our kettle brewing process that utilizes real leaf tea.
